Leisure World’s synchronized swim team, the Aquadettes, announced a $4,000 donation to Taxpayers for Responsible Planning, an organization dedicated to fighting an airport proposed to replace the retiring El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. The donation comes from a special performance of the Aquadettes’ fall revue, the Aqua Follies. The follies is a strenuous 90-minute show produced and performed by women 64 to 84 years old. The Aquadettes decided to add the extra show to raise funds for the airport fight. The show sold out, despite an admission price that was three times the normal fee.
