Holiday Closings

Thursday is Thanksgiving. The following schedules will be in effect:

* All city, county, state and federal offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. City offices in Buena Park and La Palma will be closed for the rest of the week starting today. City offices in San Clemente and Tustin will be closed Thursday through Monday and will reopen Tuesday, Dec. 1.

* County, state and federal courthouses will be closed Thursday. County and state courthouses also will be closed Friday; federal court will be open for emergency filings only.

* City and county libraries will be closed Thursday and Friday, except the Newport Beach Central Library, which will be open Friday.

* Banks and savings and loans will be closed Thursday and open Friday.

* Schools: Orange County public schools, Chapman University, UCI, Cal State Fullerton and all community colleges will be closed Thursday and Friday. Some public schools and community colleges will also be closed Monday. Call for information.

* Mail: There will be no mail delivery Thursday. All post offices will be closed, and mail deposited in mailboxes will be picked up according to the posted holiday schedule.

* Trash: There will be no trash collection. Pickups will be a day late for the rest of the week, except in Anaheim, Brea, Garden Grove, Orange, Placentia, Yorba Linda, Villa Park and Fullerton. In those cities, only Thursday pickups will be delayed.

* Buses: Orange County Transportation Authority buses will run on the holiday schedule Thursday. Buses will run less frequently, and many routes will not be operating at all. ACCESS handicapped service will be available from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. only.

* MetroLink: Trains will not be running Thursday.

* Parks: All city- and county-run parks and recreation facilities will be open during regular hours.
