Supervisor Spitzer

Your Nov. 16 article about Orange County Supervisor Todd Spitzer reminded me of how I enjoyed working with him. We served together as members of the board of the Orange County Sanitation District and the Orange County Fire Authority.
Any organization needs people who will speak directly to the point, who when they see the emperor has no clothes immediately inform the group and the emperor of such omissions.
Spitzer and I profoundly disagree on the need for a commercial airport at El Toro. I believe as an economic engine for jobs for our children and grandchildren, no other project comes close to what a proper commercial air facility would produce. In recognition of that difference on a vital subject from which neither of us is likely to waver, in my observation we have a real live asset in the public service of Spitzer.
