You Gotta Love Lucy’s Fashion Statements

Back when Isaac Mizrahi was a fashion designer, he looked to 1950s and 1960s television as inspiration, and now you can too.

Beginning tonight, Nick at Nite will present “Lucy: The 10 Greatest Outfits”--a two-week salute to “I Love Lucy,” starring Lucy Ricardo’s greatest fashion statements.

We love Lucy for her ultra-feminine look. She was always dressed to the nines. The three-quarter-length sleeves, the knee-grazing skirts, the fur-trimmed collars--they look as good today as they did back then.

The 10 p.m. time slot will be dressed with such masterpieces as the grape-stained peasant dress, a potato-sack Paris “original” and Lucy’s houndstooth Vitameatavegamin dress with white collar and cuffs.

In “The Diet” (Dec. 8 at 10 p.m.), an opportunity arises for Lucy to be in Ricky’s dance number at the Tropicana, but there’s one problem: Lucy has four days to lose 12 pounds to squeeze into a size 12 outfit. Guess some things have changed!
