Heyward Might Play Sunday
Craig “Ironhead” Heyward is getting a crash course in the Indianapolis offense to prepare for Sunday’s game against San Diego.
“He can learn some plays. He could do some things,” Coach Jim Mora said. “It would be impossible to teach him the whole offense by Sunday. But if he can help us, there is a chance he could play. I can’t say for sure yet, though.”
The 32-year-old fullback officially signed with the Colts on Wednesday after spending a month in limbo following his release from the St. Louis Rams. The Rams released Heyward days before the season opener after he failed to meet the 260-pound weight limit imposed by Coach Dick Vermeil.

The Miami Dolphins, looking to add depth in the backfield, signed former 1,000-yard rusher Ron Moore. . . . Denver quarterback John Elway, who is slowed because of a hamstring injury, said he will start against Philadelphia after going through practice on Wednesday. If Elway can’t play, Bubby Brister would again be the starter.
