Nicknamed the “Calahoo Kid” because he hails from the mighty metropolis of Calahoo, Canada (pop. 150). Last season, he proved his junior stats (83 goals with Saskatoon in 1995-96) were no fluke. Had nine goals in only 21 games late in the season, his first extended NHL stay.

Drafted in 1994, but finally signed with the Ducks last summer. Proved in training camp that he’s versatile, too, playing either wing. Made quite an impression on the coaching staff and appeared to have won a spot on the 24-man roster as training camp neared its end.

He’s a working-class guy capable of filling almost any role. Expect to see him with tough guys Stu Grimson and Jim McKenzie on some shifts and with more skilled offensive players on others. Will be counted on to be a warrior this season, doing all the dirty work.

An original Duck. Reacquired in a four-player deal this summer from Carolina. Expected to team with Jim McKenzie to act as policemen for the likes of Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne. The Ducks were considered pushovers last season because they didn’t have someone like Grimson.

Original Duck has recovered from shoulder surgery that limited him to a 13-24-6 record. Sidelined for the season’s final 20 games. Won 20 or more games in three of five seasons in Anaheim, with a goals-against average less than 3.00 in four of those years.
