The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Division will open its doors--including its empty jail cells--to the public during an open house Saturday.
Visitors may tour the station at 19020 Vanowen St., Reseda, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sgt. Cindy Brounsten said. No inmates will be present during the tour, she said.
Visitors may climb into a variety of vehicles, including squad cars, a Los Angeles Fire Department truck and engine, and a military Humvee, Brounsten said. People can also hop into a police helicopter. Two police horses and a narcotics dog will be on hand.
The event will also include a bomb squad display with previously exploded items and bomb suppression equipment.
Guests can snack on hot dogs, chips and drinks as they chat with members of the SWAT team, the off-road motorcycle unit and the recruiting unit.
