Newton detectives are seeking the public’s help in finding two gunmen who robbed a 65-year-old man in South-Central Los Angeles last month.

The robbery victim, whose name was withheld, was confronted by the two robbers at his residence in the 200 block of East 28th Street.

One of the robbers knocked on the victim’s door and asked if he could borrow a pencil, police said. After forcing themselves at gunpoint into the home, one of the assailants pulled a phone and a lamp cord out of the wall, tied the man and robbed him, Det. Jerry Johnson said.

“They took money and other items,” said Johnson.

The robbery occurred Sept. 12 at 11 p.m. Police said the gunmen fled in a green, 1987 or 1988 Chevrolet Astro Van.

“We think they may still be in the area and may be recognized,” said Johnson.

Anyone with information is asked to call (213) 846-6572.
