He’d Rather See Kings Than Penny-Pinching Ducks

Well, here we go again. The 1998-99 Mighty Ducks Preview promises yet another glum and dreary season for the Ducks.

Shame on you Disney for not spending the bucks to bring in a big-name free agent to add some offensive output to your second line or provide experience and leadership to your pathetic defense.

Shame on you Disney for hiring another fair-haired, boyish coach who has a losing record and was totally ineffective with the Blackhawks. However, he does exemplify your image.

Shame on you Disney for allowing (Pierre) Gauthier, who is as inept as (Tony) Tavares, to return to Anaheim as president and GM of the Ducks, courtesy of the Ogden Corp. You know, Mr. Eisner, soon your hockey faithful who fill the Pond will see through your marketing hype and demand a winning team.

In the meantime, I will take my business to the Forum and next year to the Staples Center, where I know I will get much more value for my dollar and enjoy watching a talented, creative and winning organization.
