Long Beach 34, Santa Ana 14--Sean Stein completed 25 of 32 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns for visiting Long Beach (4-0), the top-ranked team in the J.C. Grid-Wire national rankings.

Santa Ana (0-4) took the opening kickoff and drove 65 yards in nine plays, scoring on Archie Lappin’s one-yard run to take a 7-0 lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Santa Ana was tied at halftime, 7-7, before Long Beach scored touchdowns on its first three possessions in the second half. Ahmad Jackson had two one-yard touchdown runs for Long Beach in the second half.

Camron King rushed for 65 yards in 17 carries for Santa Ana.

Cerritos 35, Saddleback 14--Julio Peraza rushed for 220 yards and a touchdown in 27 carries for Saddleback (0-5). It was the second time this season Peraza had eclipsed the 200-yard mark.

Cerritos is 4-1.

Mt. San Antonio 61, Golden West 6--Brian Johnson returned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown 1:30 into the game for Mt. SAC (4-1).

Golden West (0-5) scored its touchdown in the fourth quarter on a one-yard run by Kevin Scott, who had 66 yards rushing in 16 carries.

In the Citrus men’s water polo tournament:

Riverside 6, Saddleback 5--Brandon Joffe scored two goals for Saddleback (16-6) in the tournament final.

Golden West 8, Cuesta 4--Estelio Dantas and Adriano Marsili each scored two goals for Golden West (17-1-1) in the fifth-place game.

In the Merced women’s water polo tournament:

Golden West 13, Merced 3--Amanda Ogle and Sharon Vanderpas each scored four goals in the final. Chelsea Rowlands scored five goals and Melody Warren and Ogle each scored four goals in a 17-2 semifinal victory over Modesto. Golden West is 19-0.

At the Irvine Invitational women’s cross-country meet:

Moreno wins--Santa Ana’s Sharon Moreno won the five-kilometer race in 20:16 to help the Dons finish second with 91 points behind first-place El Camino (60).

At the Irvine Invitational men’s cross-country meet:

Santa Ana finishes second--Alex Reyes finished third in 20:52 for the Dons, who finished with 57 points to finish second behind San Diego Mesa (40). Lucas Neubauer finished sixth (21:01) for Santa Ana.
