Pedestrian, 81, Dies After Being Struck in Crosswalk

An 81-year-old pedestrian was killed Friday when a van struck him in a crosswalk, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
The accident happened at 11:18 a.m. on La Brea Avenue just south of the Santa Monica Freeway. The victim was taken by paramedics to UCLA Medical Center, where he died, Humphrey said. Authorities withheld the name of the pedestrian pending notification of relatives. The accident remains under investigation.
