Brendan Shanahan scored his fifth goal in his last three games and goaltender Chris Osgood made 34 saves for his 21st career shutout to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 2-0 victory over Calgary Sunday at Detroit.

Mathieu Dandenault also scored for the Red Wings, who have won three straight since a season-opening loss at Toronto.

“I’ve felt good since the season started,” Osgood said. “I’m glad we’ve started against teams we either have rivalries with or teams that play us tough. Calgary played us very tough tonight and we had to play a solid game to beat them.”

The Flames, playing the first game of a four-game trip, outshot Detroit, 34-28.

Washington 4, Tampa Bay 1--Peter Bondra scored his 23rd career goal in 26 games against the Lightning to lead the Capitals at Tampa.

“Well, it’s like what Bondra does to everybody, everywhere,” Washington Coach Ron Wilson said. “He’s the best goal scorer in the NHL right now, over the past five years--and you can see why.”

Matthew Herr and Jaroslav Svejkovsky added third-period goals for Washington. Mikael Andersson scored for the Lightning, winless in its last 15 games dating to March 30.

Boston 3, San Jose 0--Robbie Tallas turned back 22 shots and the Bruins spoiled the Sharks’ home opener.

Peter Ferraro, Sergei Samsonov and Dmitri Khristich had goals for the Bruins, who are 9-1-3 lifetime against the Sharks to 9-1-3.
