Places to get your groove back. . . .

* Cherry at the Love Lounge. There’s no better dance club in L.A. than Cherry, which is poppin’ each Friday night with oodles of ‘80s and ‘90s rock and pop--and the dishiest drag divas in town. 657 N. Robertson Blvd., West Hollywood, (310) 659-0472. 21 and over, $10 cover.

* Conga Room. A very necessary new club on the L.A. scene, the Conga Room--with its tropical, Latin music and colorful decor--was made for dancing (just try to defy feelin’ the rhythm of the night here). 5364 Wilshire Blvd., L.A., (213) 938-1696. 21 and over, cover varies.

* Grand Ville at 7969. With a new deejay, Ryan from Freakdaddy, and a new lineup of gals, this 5-year-old Thursday night dance and strip club is still go-go-going deep into the night. 7969 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, (323) 654-0280. 21 and over, $10 cover (burlesque show at midnight).

* Jamaican Gold at Dragonfly. A Sunday night reggae club, Jamaican Gold’s live and deejay-driven music keeps the dance floor smoldering till 2 a.m. 6510 Santa Monica Blvd., Hollywood, (323) 466-6111. 21 and over, $10-$12 cover.

* Meow Mix West at the Garage. The best darn lesbian club east of Michelle’s Triple X (another hot dance party on Tuesdays at the 7969 club), Meow Mix West thrives, in large part because of its excellent music selections. The Friday night club at the Garage in Silver Lake usually starts off with two or three female bands, before cranking up the turntable for some serious rock ‘n’ roll. A word to profuse sweaters: There’s no place to get air here, so dress lightly. 4519 Santa Monica Blvd., Silver Lake, (323) 769-5090. 21 and over, $8 cover.

* Shout at the El Rey Theater. Giving folks reason to holler, this ‘60s-inspired dance club, which happens the second and fourth Sunday of each month, cooks up Britpop, glitter, vintage soul and mo’ mod music than you can rev a scooter to. On Halloween, Shout teams up with Cafe Bleu--Hollywood’s first post-mod mod dance club--for one big ol’ bash. 5515 Wilshire Blvd., L.A., (323) 936-4790. 18 and over, cover varies.

* Viper Room on Fridays. Possibly the longest-running disco fiesta on the Sunset Strip, at the Viper, “Fly-day” nights are made for dancing. Bootie Quake’s been laying down live ‘70s rehash for years now, and DJ Richie Rich keeps the party going until closing. 8852 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, (310) 358-1880. 21 and over, $10-$15 cover.
