Mario Lemieux has become sort of a high-class repo man.

Lemieux has been appointed, along with Civic Arena landlord SMG Pittsburgh, to lead a committee of creditors of the financially troubled Pittsburgh Penguins. Lemieux is owed the most money of all creditors--$28.7 million, by the team’s count.

He was appointed Tuesday during the selection of the creditors’ committee as part of the Penguins’ proceedings in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

The team’s bankruptcy filing earlier this month allows it to restructure its debt while keeping creditors such as Lemieux at bay.
