Without the drama of a long World Series, the one between the Yankees and Padres will probably end up as the lowest-rated in history.

After three Yankee wins, Fox had a 13.4 rating, down 4% from last year and the lowest three-game average in history. A ratings point represents 994,000 homes.

The network got a slight boost from a competitive Game 3, posting a 15.4 rating, the highest of the Series but still 1% lower than last year’s third game between Florida and Cleveland.

“The only thing that can help us avoid the lowest-rated Series now is a Yankees three-game losing streak,” Fox spokesman Vince Wladika said.

That didn’t happen. Final ratings will be available today.

With five scoreless innings to start Games 3 and 4, this was the first time that consecutive Series games had been scoreless through five innings since 1906. . . . Yankee rookie left fielder Ricky Ledee’s .600 batting average was the third-highest ever in the World Series. Only Billy Hatcher’s .750 (1990) and Babe Ruth’s .625 (1928) were higher.
