Cyclist, 13, Dies After Hitting Pickup Truck

A 13-year-old Thousand Oaks boy has died from injuries he suffered after the bike he was riding hit a pickup truck.

Chad Lawrence was riding down a hill on Camino Santo Reyes when he clipped the rear end of a truck on Calle Arroyo about 5 p.m. Thursday, officials said. The unconscious boy was rushed to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where he died during surgery about 9:10 p.m. Coroner’s officials listed the cause of death as multiple injuries to the head, chest and stomach.

Memorial services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Community Church on Via Colinas in Westlake Village. In lieu of flowers, family members asked that donations be made to the Calvary Community Church Building Fund.
