Sherman-Hoffman Race

Share

Congressman Brad Sherman was one of only five Los Angeles congressional representatives to sign a pledge of support for increasing appropriations funding for Alzheimer’s research by $100 million.

Alzheimer’s disease has been called the epidemic and health care crisis of the 21st century. An estimated 14 million people will be affected in the next 30 years if a cure is not found. Every time I see and communicate with my beloved mother, I see a different person than the vibrant, intelligent parent who raised me. The roles have been reversed. I have now become her mother.

For the sake of our parents and our future, I urge you to vote for Sherman. He is a congressman who stands up for what is needed in our district, our nation and our generation. Let us not forget those who can no longer remember.

I should think that Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) would pay the air fare of any out-of-the-mainstream, extremist right-wing Republicans who want to come and campaign for his opponent! (“Quayle Predicts GOP Domination in Election,” Oct. 9).

In “swing” districts, such as the 24th Congressional District, it is the moderates of both parties and the independents who will decide the election, and pictures of people such as “Dan Quail” with the Republican challenger will push these moderates and independent voters away from Randy Hoffman (GOP candidate).

So I think that Sherman ought to pay for any visits by such polarizing figures as Rep. Bob Barr (R-Georgia), Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas), Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson.
