2 Youths Sought After Mother Killed

Houston police said they are looking for two suspects possibly as young as 10 after a woman was shot dead in front of her daughter, 6. The shooting occurred at an apartment complex in southwest Houston as the woman prepared to take her daughter to school. Witnesses, alarmed by the sound of gunfire and the girl’s screams, reported seeing the youth who fired the shots escape to a waiting car driven by a young accomplice. A Police Department spokesman said some witness accounts put the age of at least one of the suspects at 10 or 11 years, though other witnesses estimated their ages at 12 to 16. Police did not identify the victim and said the motive for the crime was unclear.
