Severance Deals Vary Widely by Industry

Those executives might take note of a study by the career services firm Lee Hecht Harrison in Irvine that found a wide variance in severance packages from industry to industry. Companies in the food, beverage and tobacco industries offered the most generous deals, followed by transportation, travel, energy and environmental resources.

Among the least generous were aerospace and defense, government, and the computer industry. And at the very bottom: professional business services.
