When Michael Ovitz is able to prove that 16 million people can drive to Carson in 30 minutes, I will gather two or three of my friends and write a check to underwrite in full his proposed stadium and mall.

Michael Ovitz and the Carson City Council want a football stadium in Carson. They promise that it would be an economic boon to the city.

If Ovitz is so convinced that an NFL stadium in Carson will be such a benefit to the city, then surely he will want to live in Carson near the stadium. Let’s measure his commitment not by the balance in his bank account but by his willingness to put his family where his money will be.

If Ed Roski wants to bring the arrogant, enormously wealthy NFL to Los Angeles, let the money come from Roski and the NFL. The Los Angeles taxpayers shouldn’t subsidize these businesspeople with one penny of public funds.
