Share

Paul Orfalea, who opened his first tiny Kinko’s near UC Santa Barbara almost 30 years ago and steered its growth into a worldwide leader in business services, will give a keynote address at the Los Angeles Times Small Business Strategies Conference next month.

Orfalea will touch on three themes: work, love and play--all of which he said have been central to the company’s philosophy.

More than 10,000 small-business owners are expected to attend the conference Oct. 17-18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Participants may choose from more than 40 panels and workshops.

Some of the nation’s top entrepreneurs and small-business leaders will share their expertise on such topics as opening franchises, developing leadership skills, negotiating, taking on family businesses, marketing to ethnic groups, writing news releases and creating a Web site.

Registration is $70 for one day, $99 for both days. Orfalea will speak Oct. 17 from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m.
