Kimberly C. Knapp, 6; Member of Easter Seals

Kimberly Christine Knapp died Monday at her home in Ventura following a lifelong battle with cerebral palsy. She was 6.

Kimberly was born Oct. 18, 1991. She spent the first five weeks of her life in the neonatal unit at Ventura County Medical Center until she was strong enough to go home.

She participated in several in-home therapy programs and enjoyed spending time with occupational therapist Georgina Taylor and physical therapist Becky Malas .

Kimberly was a member of the infant program at Easter Seals, where she was able to swim. She graduated from the program in 1994.

Kimberly made friends at Cornerstone House in Ventura, where she lived in 1992 and 1993, and at Horizon House, where she lived in 1995 and 1996.

In 1996, Kimberly lived at home with her parents and two brothers.

Kimberly is survived by her parents, Don and Sandy Knapp of Ventura; two brothers, Michael Alexander Knapp and Joseph Reese Knapp, both of Ventura; grandparents Donald and Evelyn Knapp of Camarillo and Jerry and Merlyne Strain of San Diego; two uncles; three cousins; and numerous great aunts and uncles.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Assembly of God Church in Ventura.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Easter Seal Society of Ventura County in Ventura; United Cerebral Palsy in Thousand Oaks; First Assembly of God Church in Ventura; or Livingston Memorial Nurses Hospice in Ventura.
