Technicolor/Nimbus Merger Is Completed

Camarillo-based Technicolor and Nimbus CD International of Charlottesville, Va., have announced the completion of their merger.

Technicolor’s Optical Disc Division in Camarillo will incorporate Nimbus and operate under the name Technicolor/Nimbus. It will be the world’s largest independent manufacturer of DVDs, as well as a leading supplier of all optical disc formats including CD audio and CD-ROM.

Technicolor/Nimbus will provide an expanded international service to content producers from the home video, software and music industries, with a collective annual production capacity of more than 50 million DVDs and more than 300 million compact discs.

“This is really the perfect match, with customers reaping the benefits of combining the two companies,” said Lyndon J. Faulkner, chief executive officer of Technicolor/Nimbus. “Technicolor and Nimbus each have more than a decade of experience in their respective businesses, and we plan to leverage these strengths.”

The companies anticipate a relatively smooth transition as a result of the merger, noting similar operating philosophies and shared values regarding quality control, production flexibility and responsiveness to quick-turn service requirements.

Technicolor is a subsidiary of Carlton Communications PLC in Great Britain.
