Two Anaheim police officers, Kahle Switzer and Jack Sharkey, have moved up the ranks, Police Chief Randall Gaston recently announced.

Switzer becomes a lieutenant and Sharkey a sergeant.

Switzer, 46, became a police cadet for the city in 1973 and was promoted to police officer later that year to work in the patrol division. He has since worked in various assignments, including as a robbery detective and as a member of the Street Crime Apprehension Team. He became a sergeant in 1990.

Sharkey, 42, was hired by Anaheim as a patrol officer in 1978, after working as a police cadet and reserve police officer in La Habra. He has worked as a field training officer, accident investigator, motorcycle officer, drug education officer and sex crimes detective.
