Turn Signals

* I loved Stephen Adney’s suggestion urging L.A. drivers to use their turn signals (letter, Sept. 7).

In fact, I think it is California vehicle code law to use turn signals as of the first of the year--for even such a silly thing as to change lanes! But, sadly, turn signals are not going to be used by the seasoned L.A. drivers, as they know darn well you can’t “tip off” other drivers as to any desire you may have to changes lanes, etc., because you will then be squeezed out. The seasoned L.A. driver knows you have to wait for the tiniest of openings and then madly plunge into it without giving off the slightest hint that this is your intention. The alternative is being forced to drive to a neighboring city of where you had planned to go.
