Orioles Turn On the Power
There is no shot at a playoff spot anymore. All the Baltimore Orioles can do is get as many wins as they can.
Roberto Alomar hit a three-run homer and Brady Anderson hit a solo shot Wednesday as the Orioles beat the Oakland Athletics, 6-2, for their second straight victory.
Still, Baltimore has lost seven of 10 since dropping out of contention with a 10-game losing streak.
Juan Guzman (10-14) gave up both runs and six hits in five innings, improving to 4-2 since the Orioles acquired him from Toronto in July. Jimmy Key, Alan Mills and Jesse Orosco combined for one-hit relief.
A’s starter Jimmy Haynes (10-8) gave up all six runs.
