Students Raise $1,157 for Tornado Victims
Students at Fairmont High School emptied their pockets of pennies and raised $1,157.57 to help tornado victims in the Southeast.
Students will donate the money they collected to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund in a Sept. 21 assembly.
When students saw newspaper photos of destroyed neighborhoods, they decided to help. Their monthlong “Twister Fund” drive in May netted 68,775 pennies and almost $500 in currency.
