MONTGOMERY, Ala. —
Former Gov. George C. Wallace was critically ill Thursday in an intensive care unit, the third time in four months he has been hospitalized.
Jackson Hospital spokeswoman Victoria Jones said Wallace, 79, was suffering from septic shock and breathing difficulties.
At an afternoon briefing, Jones said Wallace’s vital signs were improving but that his situation was potentially life-threatening.
The four-term governor, left paralyzed by an assassination attempt in 1972, suffers from Parkinson’s disease.
