Freshman Ken Simonton had his second consecutive 100-yard rushing game, getting 104 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday as Oregon State defeated mistake-prone Baylor, 27-17.

Oregon State, trying to end an NCAA-record streak of 27 losing seasons, improved to 2-0 for the first time since 1985, when it finished 3-8.

Baylor set a school record with 19 penalties, three more than its previous high against Houston in 1950.

Oregon State also held Baylor to 120 passing yards and had two interceptions.

Simonton, who became the first Oregon State freshman to rush for 100 yards with 121 and two touchdowns against Nevada last week, scored on runs of 24 and nine yards to help the Beavers to a 21-3 halftime lead. The touchdowns made up for two fumbles and two dropped punts.

Jose Cortez had field goals of 50 and 51 yards for the Beavers.
