Addressing crime in the San Fernando Valley, LAPD Deputy Chief Michael Bostic is scheduled to speak at the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Assn. monthly meeting Wednesday.

Bostic, who oversees police operations in the Valley, will focus on the question: “How safe is the Valley?”

Richard Close, president of the homeowners’ association, said Bostic will be asked about what police are doing to make the Valley safer and whether there are substantially more officers on the street now as compared with a few years ago.

Also expected to be on the agenda is the impending elimination of the senior lead officer program, which has been an important part of LAPD community relations.

A representative from the Los Angeles Sanitation Department will also answer questions on the blue recycling containers being used throughout the Valley.

All area residents are invited to attend the meeting, Close said.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. at the Ventura banquet center, 13920 Ventura Blvd.
