The Thousand Oaks Telecommunity Center will hold a series of seminars this month to give local residents a leg up on integrating advanced technology into their lives.

More than a dozen classes will be offered free to the public on topics ranging from the use of global positioning systems to Internet basics and desktop publishing.

September’s guest instructors include 17-year-old Scott Rein, who, besides attending Westlake High School, owns and operates Onsite Technical Solutions.

Jim Holston and Steve Freeko of Allen Osbourne Associates will teach the use of global positioning systems, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30.

Wendell Hahm, president of Southern California Technologies Inc., will outline how to tailor a laptop computer, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 22.

As class size is limited, preregistration is encouraged.

The Telecommunity Center is at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.
