Nothing Minor About Honor for the Angels’ Glaus

Third baseman Troy Glaus, the Angels’ No. 1 pick in the 1997 major league draft, was named minor league player of the year on Monday by Howe Sportsdata International.

Glaus, 22, in his first season of professional baseball, hit .309 with 19 homers and 51 RBIs in 50 games for Midland of the Class AA Texas League, and .306 with 16 homers and 42 RBIs in 59 games for Vancouver of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League.

He was called up by the Angels last month, and entering Monday night’s game at Tampa Bay, he was hitting .227 with one homer and 18 RBIs in 36 games.
