Slain Man, 24, Was Transient, Police Say
A homicide victim found off Old Laguna Canyon Road last month has been identified as a transient who frequented Laguna Beach, police said.
A farm worker discovered the body of Ernesto Garcia Gutierrez, 24, who had been shot to death, Aug. 16 in a field off Old Laguna Canyon Road near the Laguna Freeway.
Police are still searching for his relatives and anyone with information on the slaying.
Gutierrez was described as Latino, 5 feet 9, 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a gray and black short-sleeved shirt, black denim pants and black tennis shoes.
Officers ask that anyone who spotted unusual activity in the area Aug. 15 or Aug. 16 call investigators at (949) 724-7171 or (949) 724-7166.
