A preview screening of “The Mighty,” a film about two boys’ friendship, will be shown at a benefit to raise funds for a new after-school tutoring program at Palms Middle School. The Oct. 3 screening will be held at 10 a.m. at the AMC-Santa Monica Theater, 1310 Third Street Promenade. It will be presented by Public Education Programs, a nonprofit group that for several years has sponsored human relations courses at Palms, a Westside public school campus.
This year, the group pledged to create a model after-school activities program at Palms.
The PG-13 film tells the story of two boys who, in the spirit of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, set out on a quest for greatness, only to discover the treasure of friendship.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children and include a small popcorn and drink. They can be purchased by mail through Wednesday by sending a check to Public Education Programs, 10573 W. Pico Blvd. Suite 25, Los Angeles 90064. Information: (310) 836-1394.
