In Saturday’s game, Manny Legace, the King’ fourth-string goaltender, held the Coyotes scoreless until midway through the third period and finished with 32 saves.

The Coyotes’ Jeremy Roenick scored the game’s first goal with 10:54 left to play, taking control of the puck to the right of Legace and skating behind the net and firing a shot from the bottom of the left circle. Legace appeared to trap the puck against his body with his glove hand, but the puck dropped behind him and trickled over the goal line.

Bob Corkum also scored and Nikolai Khabibulin made 18 saves for the Coyotes, who won for the second time in five exhibition games.

Phoenix played without captain Keith Tkachuk, who ended his holdout Friday when he signed a one-year contract extension and will report to camp Monday.

Corkum extended the Coyotes’ lead to 2-0 with 8:41 remaining when he redirected a pass from Mike Stapleton past Legace from the right of the goal.
