White House Opens Gardens for Tours

The “White House Fall Garden & House Tours,” which give access to areas not included on the regular daily White House tour, will be held Oct. 10 and 11 this year; they’re also held in the spring. The regular daily tours (Tuesdays through Saturdays) are mostly confined to the State Rooms, but the fall tours allow visitors onto the South Lawn and into the Jacqueline Kennedy and children’s gardens. You can also catch a glimpse of the Oval Office, a tour spokesman said. The hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 10, and 1 to 5 p.m Oct. 11. Admission is free, on a first-come, first-served basis. Enter at the Southeast Gate at “E” Street and East Executive Avenue. Information: (202) 456-2200.
