Robber Holds Up Cable TV Office
An armed man robbed an office of Jones Intercable Monday afternoon, making off with an undetermined amount of cash before driving away with an accomplice, Oxnard police said.
The robber, described as a male in a ski mask who wore dark clothing and carried a handgun, entered the cable company’s office at 721 Maulhardt Ave. about 3:30 p.m.
After demanding and receiving cash, the man fled. Witnesses told police they saw a dark-colored Chevrolet Blazer, driven by another man, fleeing the scene.
No one was injured in the incident, though one employee required medical attention for an anxiety attack.
A cable company office in an industrial complex is an unlikely target for robbery, Oxnard Police Cmdr. Jeff Young said, but “anyone who’s had to go there to either sign up or pay [for cable] does know they have cash there.”
