Please Lower the Sound in Movies

There is little mystery why those of us over 40 do not attend more movies. It is the assault by sound.

The noise level in theaters is not only painful to the ears, it reverberates in the chest cavity, which is very uncomfortable. One is unable to enjoy the movie--a problem made worse in multiplexes where you are subjected to the audible sound and vibration from the adjoining theaters.

When visiting movie theaters, especially those showing films to which I take my young nephews and nieces, it is impossible to get the management to lower the volume.

On more than one occasion, I have made repeated requests of the manager, only to be told, “We want to wow the audience” or, “The sound already has been turned down three times.” Yes, on some occasions I have been offered my money back. However, I want to enjoy a movie in comfort and be with my nephews and nieces.
