The Planning Commission meets Wednesday to reconsider a general plan amendment for the Dana Point Headlands. The commission approved changes to the city’s general plan last month that effectively derail the property owners’ development plans for the 122-acre coastal area, while at the same time paving the way for the city’s competing plans.

Property co-owners Headlands Reserve LLC contested the validity of the commission’s action, saying notice of the meeting was not properly given to nearly 3,000 residents who had asked to be informed of meetings regarding the Headlands. City officials said the meeting was properly advertised but did not want to risk legal action. The commission meets at 7 p.m. in City Council chambers, 33282 Golden Lantern, Suite 210. Information: (949) 248-9890.
