New England-based folk singer-songwriter Lui Collins brings her national tour to Exile Books and Music, 14925 Magnolia Blvd., Sherman Oaks, tonight. Besides performing on numerous compilation CDs, Collins has recorded seven solo albums since 1978. Her latest CD, “Stone by Stone,” was released in 1997. Opening for Collins will be local singer-songwriter Judy Krueger. Krueger’s first CD, “After All,” was released in 1997. She’ll have a new one out later this year. Ray Manzarek, former keyboardist for the Doors, and Los Angeles poet Michael C. Ford perform together at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Borders Books & Music, 9301 Tampa Ave., Northridge. Both have new books. Manzarek will sign his autobiography “Light My Fire: My Life With the Doors” and Ford will sign “Emergency Exits: The Selected Poems 1970-1995.” The friends will marry their poetry and music for this special performance. The New Winds Quintet--Phyllis Newman on flute, Caswell Neal on French horn, Thomas Jones on clarinet, Charles Gould on bassoon and Howard Anderson on oboe--will perform music by Bach, Haydn, Gershwin and others at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mid-Valley Regional Library, 16244 Nordhoff St., North Hills.
