The Los Angeles County office of education plans to move 650 of its employees into a former Boeing Co. plant on Clark Avenue after purchasing the complex for $20.5 million.

The move will occur in October, when the office finalizes the purchase and moves employees from existing offices in Bell Gardens, Norwalk and Downey into the 204,000-square-foot building. The new office building, a former research and development complex for Boeing and Rockwell International, is currently owned by the O’Donnell Group of Newport Beach.

The 20.5-acre property will be used as a training site for teachers and administrators in public schools and community colleges. The office of education will house its remaining employees in its existing Downey office on Imperial Highway.
