County Provides Grant for Citizenship Program
The San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council’s Immigration and Citizenship program will receive a $39,116 check today from Los Angeles County to assist people seeking to become U.S. citizens.
The check presentation ceremony will be at 9:15 a.m. at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, 500 W. Temple St., downtown.
The funds come from the county’s Department of Community Services and Development through its Citizens Assistance Campaign.
The council’s immigration and citizenship program founded three years ago offers free citizenship test preparation classes, assistance with processing naturalization forms and help in obtaining work permits or green cards.
The grant will allow the council to assist 183 people living in the San Fernando and Antelope valleys, said Arlene Quinn, spokeswoman for the San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council.
The immigration services program is at 5315 Laurel Canyon Blvd. in North Hollywood. For information, call (818) 761-7395.
