SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
The City Council recently approved the city’s Community Development Block Grant application. Officials are requesting $500,000 to develop a child care program and improve housing conditions in three of the city’s poorest areas. The targeted areas are Rancho Alipaz, where 21% of residents live below the poverty level, and in Villa San Juan and Capistrano Valley Mobile Estates, where 9% of the residents live below the poverty level. The poverty level is considered an income of just more than $15,000 for a family of four. Information: (949) 493-1171.
