NEWPORT BEACH
The City Council last week voted 7-0 to fund Newport Pier repairs and award a contract. The pier will undergo biannual testing for structural defects, with repairs performed on alternating years. By awarding the contract to the John S. Meek Co., the council authorized more than $190,000 to be spent on pier repairs, with money primarily dedicated to replacing deteriorated wooden piles.
