Fire Damages School Offices; Arson Suspected

TEMPLE CITY — Authorities believe that arson was the cause of a fire that damaged the Temple City Unified School District offices early Wednesday. Damage was estimated at $100,000.
Shortly before 4 a.m., Los Angeles County firefighters were dispatched to the administration building in the 9500 block of Longden Avenue and doused the blaze in about 10 minutes. No one was hurt and the building was empty, officials said.
Investigators from the sheriff’s arson and explosive detail discovered four to five points of ignition, according to Deputy Steve Sciacca.
Firefighters’ quick response ensured that the blaze did not spread to nearby Longden Elementary School, district officials said. Classes continued as usual there Wednesday.
