The City Council this week approved a lease agreement with Southern California Edison that will allow the city to extend El Rancho Verde Park to the west by 2.4 acres. The city will pay $34,000 for an eight-year lease of the land and is continuing to negotiate for an additional acre. City officials say the Edison land has not been well maintained, and they plan to cite Edison for weed abatement on that additional acre in hopes of speeding up the negotiations.
