Students and teachers will spruce up Pio Pico Elementary School on Friday during the national Arbor Day celebration by planting 10 queen palm trees. Before planting the trees, students will practice calling Dig Alert, a service that checks to make sure any digging project doesn’t strike underground utility lines. The event will be at 10:30 a.m. at 931 W. Highland St. Information: (562) 491-1000.
