Navy Housing

Share

What a sad day for the working poor in Los Angeles. On April 16 I sat through a Los Angeles City Council meeting where the council voted to take the available 545 Navy housing sites in the San Pedro, Harbor City, Wilmington and Rancho Palos Verdes area and destroy over 200 of these fine apartments and townhouses so that some homeowners won’t have to worry about having to “absorb” too many fellow citizens into their nearby environs. After all we’ve got two groups, right? The “community” and the “homeless.” Can’t let one group overwhelm the other, right?

I would like to think that the council members who voted for this proposal are ashamed. I would like to think that.
