FINAL COUNTDOWN:

If you’re a serious Lilith Fair fan, you may want to check plane schedules for Edmonton, Alberta. That’s where the final show of the Sarah McLachlan-founded female showcase’s third and final year will be held Aug. 31. The lineup for the show, at the open-air Commonwealth Stadium, is set to have McLachlan joined by Lilith mainstay act the Indigo Girls, Sheryl Crow and country hotshots the Dixie Chicks. A fifth main stage headliner will be added soon.

Edmonton won out for the honor over what might seem like an odd choice for the tour: Las Vegas. The MGM Grand made what insiders report as a very sizable offer for the event, with plans to put the main-stage acts indoors at the hotel’s arena (where air-conditioning would be very welcome in August desert heat) and the second stage and arcade facilities outside. McLachlan, though, rejected the idea of holding the Lilith finale in the land of showgirls, saying that it didn’t feel right and she did not want to move inside what has otherwise been an outdoor event.

The tour, which begins July 8 will include a July 17 stop in Los Angeles, the venue to be announced.
