Owens Leads Titans Past UC Santa Barbara
Ryan Owens hit a pair of two-run home runs to lead Cal State Fullerton to its sixth consecutive victory, defeating UC Santa Barbara, 14-4, Saturday in a Big West Conference game at Santa Barbara.
Owens, who has 10 home runs this season, hit his first in the third inning to give the Titans (36-8, 18-2) a 4-3 lead. After Santa Barbara (22-20, 9-11) tied the score in the fourth, Owens hit his second homer in the fifth for a 6-4 Titan lead.
Marco Hanolon pitched six innings of shutout relief for the Titans, giving up only one hit and striking out six.
In Golden State Athletic Conference softball:
Southern California College 4-9, Concordia 0-0--Visiting SCC (38-10) clinched its second consecutive conference title.
In Game 1, Gretchen Brandt (11-7) struck out six in five innings to get the victory.
